How do I connect Ubuntu to internet?

Question by scaberulous: How do I connect Ubuntu to internet?
I’m using a Dell Wireless 1450 Wireless Adapter with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. I used ndiswrapper to install the drivers, but Ubuntu still will not see the network when I open System > Administration > Network. I tried some stuff that I saw and now Network won’t even show Wireless Connection and doesn’t allow me to click on “Unlock”. I’ve searched Google for help but can’t find anything.
V – I have rebooted the computer with the wireless adapter installed but it still won’t connect or anything.

Have you rebooted with your wireless adapter? I know when I first got cable internet I had to reboot with my cable modem connected to my computer in order for Ubuntu to read that I had a modem connected.
