How do I tell if my Nokia n8 is unlocked?

Question by Dan T: How do I tell if my Nokia n8 is unlocked?
I won a Nokia N8 at a conference this weekend. The Nokia people said it would work on either AT&T or T-mobile – does this mean the phone is “unlocked”?

If not, how do I check to see if it is? I see plenty of websites that let me unlock the phone, but I don’t know how to just check to see if it already is unlocked.

thanks!

If you want to use your phone on any different networks such as switching from AT&T to T-Mobile, then you will need to unlock your Nokia N8 otherwise it’s unlocked.

  1. Yes..It meant the Nokia N8 is Unlocked Mobile,So that they said It work on AT&T and T-Mobile………
It’s Simple…You can use other Network GSM Sim card it accept that means it is an Unlocked Mobile..Otherwise it Not..Don’t search any where to Unlock the Mobile…You can buy the Unlock code at http://www.onlinegsmunlock.com/nokia-n8/rs7wp9/ and Unlock the mobile from the Network lock.

  2. If they said so then that should be the case. The N8 is a GSM phone so it will work on GSM carriers like T-Mobile & AT&T. Only way to check for sure is get a T-Mobile SIM & an AT&T SIM but them in the phone & see if it works on both networks.

  3. The easiest way to check if the phone is unlocked or not is by inserting a SIM card from different carriers, like AT&T and T Mobile, and if you get a message saying ‘Invalid SIM’ or ‘Incorrect SIM’ then that means the phone is still locked, however, if the phone reads the SIM card, then it’s unlocked.
