I brought some computers at a school auction, and I want to get around the password system or just dump the OS.
It starts up alright, tells me to click ctrl + alt + delete and then takes me to the password area where it wants a password and username along with the domain for the school area. I don’t want in that I just want to get around it. Anyone know what I could do?
Someone suggested pushing ESC but that didn’t work. Is there anything else, should I dump the OS?

Boot into Windows in safe mode, usually by pressin F8. In most cases though computers bought from schools or large corporations with these passwords will need Windows reinstalled or even the bios on the computer reset, this is done by disconnecting all power and pulling the CMOS battery from the motherboard for at least a few minutes. I refurbish computers as a business and can help if needed further.

The harddrives should already be erased. The people who auctioned them are idiots because you could potentially get imformation off them.

I would call the school system and request either the username/password or get them to overwrite the entire hard drive. That they sold you computers that potentially has personal information on it is quite irresponsible on their part.

ask the school for your computer’s username & password
