it also has an old password on startup. how can i bypass this? is there an f key code? is there a disk i can buy? im not interested in ebay purchases. but if that is my only option ill do it.
You better check local yellow pages for a company or a person that does electronic (or laptops) repairs. They might have a powercord for your model, but before buying a powercord check if they can reset a password for you. On some models its really hard or almost impossible (expensive) to do that.

Im not exactly sure what to do about the password thing but go to HP.com and get the customer service number and they can give you the right plug and ship it to you. It's a good idea because if it's a plug to another model you can ruin your laptop. Hope this Helps!!!
