you can do so by deactivating the avg web shield
you can find it in the avg console
i used avg back some time

start your computer in safe mode with networking by tapping the F8 key while it is booting up…then download the free home version of avast from http://www.avast.com and run a boot time scan which is part of the set up….delete anything it finds no matter where it is…avast also has excellent resident protection and will give an audible alarm if you are on a site that may have a virus or even malicious code….cheers

One of the better free ones out there is avira anti-virus from http://www.free-av.com
As the above poster stated try booting your computer in safe mode when downloading. Then run the virus scan in safe mode, clean any infections then boot your computer normally and run one more scan

You are probably trying to download a file that is not an actual antivirus program and is actually malicious software.
Here is AVG Free Antivirus, It’s one of the most popular free AV programs.

It’s a good one, I use it on my computer at home.
