How can I move my software to my other hard drive so I can restore this local hard drive to factory settings. And no I am not a child trying to bypass my parents, I am a mother of 2 and trying to regain space on my hard drive...please help.
press f11 on startup and select partial restore
well you can reinstall windows and just select upgrade when you do that or you can go to disc defragmenter and disc cleanup.you could also buy and external hard drive and go to accesories system tools and backup the whole computer and wait till you get to the bit with 4 bullet points and select the one second from the bottom and choose where you save but put it on the external hard drive and then you could get a new hard drive that is bigger install windows and go to backup and restore your settings from the external drive and then delete the backup and use it for storage and new programs.
You can burn the files to disc, use the installation cd's, move your hard drive to an external one, pay to have your files stored online (several sites offer it), connect your computers through your network and allow file sharing, etc.
When you've moved everything, turn off the computer you are restoring to factory settings, and then as soon as you press the button to turn it back on press Ctrl and the F11 keys as fast as you can. If successful, follow the screen prompts.
best you can do is buy an external hard drive from best buy because they have really cheap ones with like 360 gb of space. I have one and i back up my files to it all the time. Besides that you should have one regardless and backup your files in case of a computer crash. It happened to me and now i have to pay $1000 to get my stuff from the hard drive of the computer....no one could fix it. An external is your best bet.
