Question by Tex: SBC Yahoo browser often locks on home pg story selection, as does Aim email selection. IE, & Firefox is AOK!?
When these freezes happen, I repeatedly do alt, ctrl, delete, & the cancel button therein until the selected item appears, usually after about 6 times. I have deleted and reinstalled the browsers numerous times, with the new ones working without these freezes for about a day, then it’s back to the freezes! Selecting an email out of Aim, (which I think uses Yahoo), always produces a freeze, until it is “unlocked” as above. I have 2000 Pro, 1.7 Pentium, and a gig of ram, and a vastly empty harddrive, & run defrag, antivirus, antispyware all the time! Does virtual memory come into play here, and how do I adjust it, and to what?

Yahoo does not have a browser as far as I know. But if you have one then why use it if it gives you grief.

  1. Question, are you on an SBC modem or is it DSL. That can make a lot of difference as the download times vary greatly.

You may also want to go into your Internet Options listed under Tools on your menu bar at the top of the page. You may want to change your homepage. On the General page of Internet options, you may want to change your settings to a higher number of MGs you might want updates of the webpages set on automatic. These are just suggestions.

Clear out cookies and such, run Ad Aware and Spybot, because some cookies can keep you on a site longer than you want to be. That just happened to me not twenty minutes ago with one of the earlier questions.

Good luck I hope this helps.
