Question by Dylan C: Replacement sim card and phone?
Is it possible to take an old sim card (T-Mobile for example) and put it into a phone of a new provider (verizon) and still continue verizon's service or do I need to use the sim card that comes with the phone/plan. Also how do I know which phones will work for both services? Lastly do phones that are "unlocked" go either way?

Best answer:

Answer by rebbie
I don't believe so unless the phone is unlocked. Now, you might want to check if the unlocked phone is still compatible with your new service provider. I believe they have to be on the same network. Say for example, T-Mobile works on a GSM network and Verizon is on a CDMA network. I don't think that a GSM phone will work on CDMA so like I said, you might want to double check.

Question by SamanthaStatic<3: Unlocking T-Mobile's Google G1 Phone?
My aunt found one at the hotel she works at,
kept it for a month and no one came to claim it.
Since I have T-Mobile, she gave it to me for my birthday.
BUT!
It's locked.
And I don't know the E-Mail or Password I need to get in.

What do I do?

When I turn it on, it says "locked, press menu to unlock" so I press menu and it take me to a screen that says "enter g-mail address and password here" and I tried my g-mail account, wont work. Whoever had it before me locked it with theirs, and I need to know how to get passed it. My SimCard IS T-Mobile, so I don't need it unlocked for another company sim.

Best answer:

Answer by brianv3ntura
1. Power off the G1
2. Hold Home Key + End key for 20 seconds or until you see a "triangle with an exclamation point and a picture of the G1"
3. Open the QWERTY keyboard and hit Alt+W
4. Restored!

this will do a factory reset and bring the phone back to stock. this should make the phone fresh and ready for u to log in, but u do however need the android data plan in order to log in.

Question by SpARkLe_n_ShINe: How to fix buttons of my phone that aren't working?
i have a green at&t slider phone, http://cellphones.org/images/samsung-sgh-a737-lime-green-att_pdi.gif i got the phone christmas of 2008 and at the end of summer i was having problems with it where it said "unlock" while it was slid up. it bothered me, but i didn't bother to get it fixed because all i had to do was click unlock and it would work. but then when i tried to take a picture it said "please slide up" when the phone was already slid up. it annoyed me, but my parents never took me to get ti fixed or replaced. now, about 2 days ago i was hitting the unlock button and the screen was still black. so i hit another button, and it lit up. so i can't unlock my phone because the unlock, left and right, 0, #, and * keys aren't working. so i can't do ANYTHING with my phone. also, my inbox is full but the delete button does not work. so i get noticifications every few minutes saying "inbox is full, delete items, but of coarse i can't delete them. i have tried EVERYTHING. i took out the battery, cleaned it put it back in, took out the sim card, cleaned it, put it back in. took out the battery and hit the back of it, charged it, i left it completely untouched for one day, and still...NOTHING. i can't get it fixed at the moment...meaning i can't go to the store right now. so PLEEEEASE can anybody help me?!?!?!

Best answer:

Answer by Adios Mother F
I would recommend doing warranty exchange. You have 1 year of warranty. Warranty will take the phone if no physical damage done to the phone or liquid damage. Otherwise you can try to fix the keys yourself....you know replacing the keyboard/keypad.

I want to get a BlackBerry Pearl from e-Bay. There are several which say they are "unlocked". I currently have the T-Mobile MyFaves plan, and want to know if I will be able to use any of these unlocked phones if I buy them. I have no idea how the unlocked thing works, and I don't want to spend money on something I won't be able to use!

Best answer:

Answer by MissKittyInTheCity
I have bought a few unlocked phones that were brand new from ebay and they are still working great. I did not have a problem switching over my plan or anything. The good thing is that if you have a problem you can return it to your seller for a full refund. Just check out the sellers feedback score before you buy first. If there is any other problem, PayPal would get your money back for you. Good Luck!

I want to buy a Blackberry on E-bay, and I already have a T-mobile phone. But how do I make the Blackberry work with my current account? I know it has something to do with the SIM card. The phone I want to buy is "unlocked" also. I am just not sure how this all works! Help!! thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Jen T
You have to make sure that the B'berry you buy is compatible with T-mobile, and that the SIM card is compatible. You may need a larger memory capabiity than what your current phone has...

I just bought a couple of phones on eay from the same seller and one was brand new in the box, and the other was used and had some wear, but since they were both compatible with Nextel, I was able to just pop in my existing SIM cards and use them!

i was going to get a sprint phone but use it for t mobile with my t mobile sim card. how do i "unlock" the phone so that i can use the sprint phone with my t mobile sim card?

Best answer:

Answer by CrimeLab
You can't! This will not work.

One because Sprint phones don't use SIM cards. (the old ones don't)

The main reason being that when a phone is manufactured it is manufactured to work only with a service that is alike.

Examples, Cingular, ATT and T Mobile use SIMS cards
Sprint and Alltel do not.

You can only unlock a gsm phone to work on gsm service.
Your trying to unlock a Digital phone to work with GSM service. The services aren't compatible. It won't work.

Best answer:

Answer by ~~Sidd~~
Hi!,
first off... is there an ATT logo on your sim or a cingular logo?

if ATT

your phone needs an update....*most* customer care reps know how to do this...but alas some dont... call cutomer care tell them you are activating a new device on the service... read them the IMEI from the phone

The IMEI can be displayed by dialling the code *#06#

write this number down its 15 digits long

give the care rep the imei and tell them your phone model is an X426...they will update your service and your phone will work...

if cingular

same except tell them its a 427M
