What does an Unlocked Blackberry mean?

Question by TBizzle: What does an Unlocked Blackberry mean?
I am trying to buy a new blackberry in the next few weeks and have been researching.

I have repeatedly come across people saying “Blackberry Bold UNLOCKED.” What does this mean and how it is different than locked?

Thanks.

  1. Unlocked means that it can be used with any carrier (I.E T-Mobile, AT&T) The question is what was it orginally? BC most all Verizon phones can’t be unlocked to use with other carriers bc they won’t hold a Sim Card, which T-Mobile and AT&T require.
